Since her diagnosis, Rhonda has had lots of tests to check for other tumors and any spread of the cancer (metastasis). Praise the Lord again because yesterday, Thursday, the oncologist told her all of those tests came back negative. As best the doctor can tell, the cancer hasn't spread. Thursday afternoon Rhonda and David met with a surgeon and scheduled surgery for next Thursday March 26th.

The Past Two Weeks
As you may have heard, Rhonda was diagnosed with lung cancer last week on Wednesday, March 11. She had been having some sinus problems since Hurricane Ike blew through in the fall and ended up having a chest x-ray. What looked like a smudge on her x-ray film turned out to be a quarter size malignant (cancerous) tumor in the bottom lobe of her left lung. The oncologist she is working with said that it has probably been there for years and is unrelated to her sinus problems. Rhonda wasn't experiencing any symptoms that would suggest she had a tumor in her lung and she has never smoked. Praise the Lord that the doctors found it when they did and that another 5 or 10 years didn't pass without us knowing about it.

ReplyDeleteRemember the poem "Footprints in the Sand"?
During trying times, He will carry you and your burdens as well when you let Him.
You will not be alone!
Love you,

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the blog information. Rhonda, you have so many people lifting you up in prayer. As you know, we have a very spiritual campus and many prayer warriors at LJIS. The irony is that you have been so instrumental in helping create such a prayerful campus, and now we are all praying for you!!
