The Facts - Cancer Free!

Diagnosis: One quarter-size malignant tumor
Location: Lower lobe of left lung
Treatment: Surgery & Chemotherapy - Successful!
Prognosis: Excellent
Chance of Recurrence: Small
In case you haven't heard, Rhonda has been declared cancer free by her oncologist!!!

Thank you to all the friends and family who have expressed their concern, support, and encouragement. Praise the Lord that Rhonda's tumor was found early. The process of diagnosis and planning treatment went quickly in March, and recovery from surgery progressed smoothly across April. The four months of chemotherapy ended in mid-September. Now, on to recovery from the chemo. The doctor says it may take up to six months for Rhonda to regain her physical strength, so please keep praying!

Resting Quietly, No Hugs Please

This is David, thankful husband. We appreciate everyone's remembrances here on this blog and out in the prayer warrior community, which is quite large on Rhonda's behalf. From our area in South Texas to Lousiana (7/8 graders in Catholic school our friend teaches) to New Mexico and north to Texarkana area and into Oklahoma and even in New England area. we want be surprised that it is even larger than we realize. God is so good to bring his people together for one another.

Yes, I am thankful Katie came up with this blog idea. It has worked wonderfully to keep folks "in the loop". Maybe some more folks will do it in the future. She can give some hints if you need.

Special thanks to Lynette for making me laugh when I needed it; however, on Rhonda's behalf, I will pass in advance on the brussel sprout casserole. I am certain if it comes from your kitchen, it would be wonderful.

To those who asked me to give a hug, that will have to wait. The incision is about 6, maybe 8 inches, between two lower ribs on left side of chest. Painful still, but praise the Lord (for all your prayers and for the caregivers skills), the pain is effectively managed for now. She is sitting up by the 11th floor window with a view and sleeping peacefully just now. (Gayle and Kenny, we can see the top of Garage #2 where you parked for surgery.)

Our assigned nurse is Tatiana (from Russia, she said, so I said "I am David, from Texas".) She thinks we will get along just fine. She is doing great for Rhonda.

Katie is here for a few hours. Kevin also arrives in next minutes, so we will have a short re-union and celebrate a quiet family moment. Thanks again for all the support shown. Please hold the calls to the room for a couple more days to allow recuperative rest. We will update the blog a couple times a day at least for everyone with interest.

Kind regards to all,

David

  4. Glad to hear things are going fairly well. Every moment is a blessing. We're in Austin playing with the grandbabies. Kaeta made us a card that says Jesus died on the cross for our sins. I don't think she knows what sins are though. Remember, she's 3. Anyway, you are in our prayers. We'll be by to see you Monday.

    Love, Suzanne

  5. Hey Hearne Family! The Wades are praying for you. The youth group is surviving the garage sale. Today's sales were great. We miss seeing you there this year. Brad gave an update on Rhonda at our work session tonight. The folks there are all praying for you. Get some rest!
