The Facts - Cancer Free!

Diagnosis: One quarter-size malignant tumor
Location: Lower lobe of left lung
Treatment: Surgery & Chemotherapy - Successful!
Prognosis: Excellent
Chance of Recurrence: Small
In case you haven't heard, Rhonda has been declared cancer free by her oncologist!!!

Thank you to all the friends and family who have expressed their concern, support, and encouragement. Praise the Lord that Rhonda's tumor was found early. The process of diagnosis and planning treatment went quickly in March, and recovery from surgery progressed smoothly across April. The four months of chemotherapy ended in mid-September. Now, on to recovery from the chemo. The doctor says it may take up to six months for Rhonda to regain her physical strength, so please keep praying!

11th Floor Hawaiian Luau

Missy and Mike dropped by to visit this Saturday afternoon. Mike said he brought a special present.
After the long trip from LJ, I thought nothing about showing him the non-patient restroom opposite the nurse's station. Imagine their shock (understatement) when he emerged in full luau dancer garb dancing to room 1126, grass skirt and all.
Rhonda, Missy and I were in stitches, laughing hard hard hard, at his antics when there was a loud knock on the door and a voice asking, "What's going on in there?". The door flew open and six nurses and patient care assistants (PCA's) peered in over each others shoulders to get an eyeful. I laughed at them all the harder. I am still laughing 3 hours later.
Mike and I passed out leis until we ran out. The nurses were hooting before they left.
I am not sure the doctor ordered it, but the visit was just what we needed.
Thanks Missy and Mike for making our Hawaiian getaway that much more memorable! Mike and Missy help at Camp Barnabas, and Mike picked out one of the evening costumes for the visit. For those of you who know the 'quiet' Mike and David (that's me) do not judge the book by the cover. :-) :-) I will ask Katie to add the camp website in honor of Mike's efforts today to the links on our blog.

Rhonda's status, simple udpate: Ready for bear hugs, up for good solid fun and laughter, ready to be home (soon)

Day 10 of expected 5 to 7 day stay...

Thanks again for all the support and encouragement, your prayers and ours have been acknowledged in our lives.

Sincerely,

David
