When I was told I needed surgery we became focused on getting everything in order to make it happen as quickly as possible. I spent hours trying to wrap up lesson plans, tie up loose ends and get my house in some type of order. I never really thought about what we would do after I actually made it home. Just like Paul Harvey, I've found that's the REST of the story. I was so excited about coming home and was concentrating on getting into my own bed. The surgical nurse who released me really surprised me when she said "no driving for 4 weeks and you're not to lift anything over 5 pounds". Excuse me? No driving?? Of course, it makes sense when you stop to analyze it but it was one of those things I hadn't bothered to think about ahead of time. So, here I am. I don't feel like going anywhere or doing anything at this point in time, but the day will come when I have a deep, abiding urge to go the The Local and drink coffee. Don't be surprised if I call one day and say, "Seriously, you have to go to work AGAIN?" Thank goodness for retired school teachers!
The lifting restriction doesn't bother me at all. Both of our children are moving home this summer - darn, I will just have to supervise from the sidelines. :)
I hope everyone has a lovely TAKS math testing day!

I love going to the Local for coffee...and am always up for a good excuse to take an afternoon off! :)

You just don't know how much fun you missed. I will tell you about it next time I see you. Nothing major - just the usual goofy stuff. Maybe an email...
ReplyDeleteHi Rhonda,
ReplyDeleteThis is Susan Freeman (Hanson). I had lunch w/Deborah Williams yesterday, and she updated me about your surgery.
Just wanted you to know there is yet another person who has you in their prayers!!!
